Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Adams Morgan is recognized nationwide for its delightful selection of eccentric eateries. Enjoy a subterranean dinner at Sakuramen, a sub-level noodle shop where the dishes are customizable and dinner is served at expansive communal tables. Around the corner on Columbia Road, Perry's serves creative sushi and Japanese-inspired plates on one of the neighborhood's best rooftops; come early for happy hour and watch the sun set over Adams Morgan. Cozy, intimate Lapis serves contemporary Afghan cuisine, from mantu dumplings to slow cooked lamb shank, across a charming upstairs dining room, snug downstairs space and outdoor patio. Toward the southern end of 18th Street, you’ll find some of Adams Morgan’s best loved spots. Whiskey lovers shouldn’t miss Jack Rose Dining Saloon, home to one of the largest whiskey collections in the country, with more than 2,700 bottles, along with hearty small plates and an open air rooftop terrace. A few doors up, The Green Zone shakes up inventive Middle Eastern inspired cocktails (don’t skip the mint lemonade) alongside fresh baked saj and labneh. And on Florida Avenue, Keren serves generous, homestyle Eritrean and Ethiopian dishes from breakfast through dinner.

When you’re ready for a shopping spree, 18th Street is a window shopper’s heaven. Urban Dwell is a local favorite for carefully curated homewares and clothing. Smash Records is perfect for punk music fans, as it’s been a long-standing staple in the indie music scene.

Things to Do

In this bustling neighborhood, there is something to do every night. The cleverly named Madam’s Organ is a predominant Adams Morgan blues bar, and it hosts live music events every night of the week. The Songbyrd Music House & Record Cafe on 18th Street is a quirky coffeehouse selling both lattes and LPs. Listening booths make it simple to find your new favorite record while enjoying a cup of coffee. Muzette’s Korean karaoke bar offers over 70,000 song selections so you can keep the party going all night long. Plus, their menu of delicious Korean cuisine will satisfy those late-night cravings.

For a breath of fresh air, head over to Meridian Hill Park on the eastern edge of the neighborhood, where there are 12 acres of preserved green space to explore. If you're active, head to Marie Reed Recreation Center just off 18th Street, a renovated community recreation center with tennis courts, a turf field that draws pickup soccer games, and an indoor pool; the outdoor spaces open to the public on weekday evenings and weekends.
